Week 8: Last P-day in the MTC

This week was pretty good. Everyone is so ready to leave. I woke up at 5 am today with my comp and we are now just here chillin. On Sunday some guy gave a talk and it was so good. He was just a good guy in general and the way he spoke and what he talked about was so clean.
We got our flight plans last Friday and found out that I will be flying through JFK and then to Moscow and then down to Rostov. That is going to be so much fun even though I  will have no idea whats going on.  There will be three of us traveling and we just found out a senior couple will be joining us.  I just cant wait to go to Russia because the MTC is super repetitive and it's literally just the same thing everyday.

On Sunday I got called to be the district leader. Only for 1 week though. Or other wise know as the GM. Last Sunday I was also called to give my prepared talk in Russian during Sacrament meeting.  About a month ago, everyone was asked to prepare a talk in Russian and our Branch President calls on someone during church.  Nice that it was my last week here.  I was also able to sing in the choir for the Tuesday devotional.  I sat by my cousin, Elder Pollock, and we were able to talk until the speaker started.  It was a great experience.  He will be a great missionary in Ecuador.
I will be in Russia next letter.  Until then, have a great week!

Week 7: 2 Weeks Left

нет, hello,
This week went by really fast. It's so frustrating seeing all the English speaking elders come and go. But last Wednesday was the day that all the English speakers came in that we will leave with. We get our flight plans on Friday and that is like opening your mission call all over again I've heard.
One of our investigators told us that he has no more money and that he will be moving back in with his mom in a different area and it was really hard to see him go. But then again he is my teacher and I saw him 5 minutes later, haha. Our other teacher is out of town and on vacation so we have been having a substitute in his place and our district feels as if we learn nothing because our teachers are by far the best teachers. We are so much further ahead of all the classes because of our teachers haha.
This week for one of our Tuesday devotionals we had a member of the Seventy come. He was really powerful in his words and made me feel the spirit so strong!
I love learning Russian but at the same time it sucks, haha.
Have a great week.

Week 6: я не знаю

Hello everyone.
This week was the best one yet. We have had 3 apostles come and speak to us in the past week and a half. First was Elder Bednar last Tuesday. On Sunday we had Elder Ballard and then on Tuesday again we had Elder Andersen. It is incredible hearing them talk and it always motivates me to do better. We got our Russian tags this week and that was pretty exciting. We were suppose to get them a week ago but they didn't want us to be wearing them around the MTC so they waited. We get a batch of 47 new elders and sisters this week. That is a lot of people joining our zone. It's going to be a crazy next couple of weeks. We were able to initiatories at the temple today and that was really nice.
As soon as I leave the MTC they are going to shut this email down and have me use the maxwell.franckowiak@latter-daysaints.ru email so be aware of that.

Week 5: Hump Day!

Hello everybody, my hump day in the MTC was last Saturday and I can't tell you how fast it seems like its been going. This week after a devotional we got the opportunity to have Elder Bednar come and speak to us. He spent an hour doing a Q&A for us. The stuff that he was saying was so cool and I can relate to a lot of it.
When I help with the MTC tours I don't usually see anyone that I know except for this week I saw a couple families that I was familiar with. One of those families was my own. It was so weird but I got to talk to them and let off some steam. It was really cool and I'm glad that they saw me.
When I first got here I thought getting used to the new alphabet would be the hardest part about Russian. I have come to realize that it's the easiest part. I am slowly learning and can't wait to look back in a couple months and see how far I've come.
I cant wait to be out in the field and actually get to teach and do service for some Russians.

Week 4: нет брат

Hello,
It has been another generic week here at the MTC. Sometimes I feel like I got dropped off yesterday and other days it feels like I have been here for months. Nothing cool or exciting happened this week. We got some new Russians in the zone and some of them are pretty cool. They challenged me and Elder Hartmann to a duel of spike ball. We went 4-0 on games against them but at least they tried. I am at the point in my Russian that I can pick apart some of the things our investigators say but most of the time I don't know how to reply to them. We usually just give them a pamphlet and just say "read this verse". Its okay though because looking back I can see how much I have learned in 4 weeks. I love personal study time because that is when i can just relax and enjoy a good book. Have a good week every one.  ДАБ!
Also: I am getting a new email in a few days. My new email will be maxwell.franckowiak@latter-daysaints.ru
